Page history last edited by Nikhil Kumar Verma 14 years, 9 months ago

After 2 hugely successful blogcamps, BlogCampPune and BlogCampMumbaiStyle and a gap of 2 years we are back with the 2nd edition of BlogCampPune. We are very excited to set the Pune blogosphere buzzing again :)

What's it all about?

BlogCampPune is a FREE unconference focusing exclusively on blogging, organized by bloggers for bloggers. It‘s built upon the principles of the famous BarCamp (ad-hoc unconference) focused on sharing, learning and new ideas. This is going to be an intense event with discussions, demos and interaction between attendees. Any blogger who wants to contribute is welcome and invited to join. In the spirit of BarCamp, if you attend, be prepared to present something (even if it's just 10 minutes).

FAQs

What is Blogcamp Pune?

Glad to know that you are interested in the Blogcamp Pune. Here are some details about the Blogcamp Pune. Blogcamp Pune is an unconference focussed on Blog, Bloggers and Blogging phenomenon. It's a one day event.

Sounds Super Cool. But what is an unconf or a Barcamp? Errr... I am new here.

We are so glad that you asked that questions. There are so many people who are new to these concepts but they feel shy to ask such basic question.  A blogging unconference is a an event where a relevant audience comes together to talk discuss on all possible subjects related to blogging. In a BarCamp anyone may sign up to attend and choose to speak on a topic of common interest. So we are turning the idea of a Conference on its head and making it more open. You may want to read Tarun's Post expalining the Barcamp concept in bit more details.

Hey I thought it was a fun event where all the Bloggers would meet but now it sounds bit too serious. More like a Classroom thing.

Well you are right and you are wrong :) You are right that it is a serious event. We will have bloggers from in and around Pune discussing serious topics of the Blogosphere. But you are wrong that it is going to be classroom like. A session at a Blogcamp is very interactive and more like discussions than a lecture. It is an Open Space event and everyone is encouraged to take part by either presenting on a topic or taking part in the discussions during the sessions. At the same time you get to meet some really cool bloggers and have a loads of fun :)

Hey this does sound like fun but do I have to give a session?

You are very strongly encouraged to give a session. If not, you can also help in other ways like : - update the wiki in real time, blog about the whole event, shoot videos, make podcasts, take pics, help with organization, organize car pools, spread the word. But please don't just show up as a mere spectator! Be an active participant!

Aha! But I am a newbie, do I need to get the topic of my talk/session approved?

No approval of any sort is required to present. Just add the topic of your session on eventbrite ticket.

Wow! This sounds like a super cool event. Where is it?

We knew you would like this event :) The venue for Blogcamp Pune is SICSR (Symbiosis) in Model Colony. For complete address and the Google Map check the Event Details section on top of this page.

Hey do I need to register somewhere? Do I need a pass?

The event is free so anyone can attend. But please get yourself a ticket at the http://blogcamppune.eventbrite.com/. This will help us to get an idea how many bloggers are coming to the Blogcamp Pune. The registrations are going good there are around hundred people shown interest in the event and number is going up. We are planning to have 150 - 200 participants from all over the country.

One more thing, is there an Entrance fee?

Nopes. None. Zero. Zilch. Yes you heard it right Blogcamp Pune is a FREE Camp. The reqistration is absolutely free but since we are looking forward for a free camp so the campers will not get any freebies like T-Shirts etc. We should also mention that the lunch for the campers would be B-Y-O-L (Buy your Own Lunch). We will make sure that there is a caterer (or pizzas) available there but you will have to pay for your food. If you are one of those who are good at cooking please pack something extra for us and bring over we would love such treats :)

Whoa! Are you guys for real? Such a super cool event for free?? What is the plan for 27th June?

OH yeah! we are for real and this event is for real as well. Believe us it is FREE and we intend to keep it that way! As for the plans for 27th June, the way unconferences work is that, you don't have an agenda, rather we will put up a white board, where participants will themselves add the topics they are interested to speak upon. Depending upon the number of speakers we will go for multiple threads. There will be some intense discussions, we will have a lot of fun and yes there will be blogging, video blogging, photo blogging,  podcasting ... everything under the blogger sun.

Oh common who are the Sponsors?

Ah! that's the thing. We don't have any sponsor. We are repeating again that BlogCampPune2 is a FREE camp. That means we are SPONSORS FREE as well. It is a purely community driven camp with no money involved at all. Believe us we are going to pull it off without hiccups (fingers crossed). Since it is a community based event, it is the responsibility of every participant to make sure that BlogCamp Pune 2 is a success. We are looking forward to the support from all the bloggers participating.

Awesome! I am going to be there for sure and I promise I will do my bit. But don't mind me asking, have you guys attended such camps is past?

Sure we have, and since we are a distributed team, we as a group have attended almost all of them. Besides that we have already done cople of Blogcamps in past. We started with BlogCampPune around 2 years back followed by a BlogCamp in Mumbai. This is the third BlogCamp that we are doing.  We are eagerly looking forward to meet you at the Blogcamp Pune!
